Why Build

The answer to this question is very simple for me. It mainly boils down to total cost of ownership. Sure, I could go out and purchase a used Piper for around the same amount of money I'm going to spend on a good kit but what will I be getting? Most likely a high time marginal aircraft that I'll have to spend even more for ongoing maintenance.

Building myself will alleviate many of these problems:

• First, and most obvious, I will have a brand spanking new aircraft!
• Second, I will be able to act as the mechanic for the aircraft. This factor will save me some serious money on the annual inspections alone.
• Third, I get to build it myself! By the time it's done there will be literally nothing on that aircraft I don't know about.
