Tim asked me to post these "templates", use at your own risk:
My butt ribs measure 43 1/2" edge to edge, the "template" calls for 42 1/2" as I read it, which would make the skywindow on the narrow side...

Fore & aft, my butt rib caps measure 29 1/2" where JA calls for 29"...

Use at your own risk: I see my butt ribs are measuring 43 1/2" from outside lateral edges where the JA "template" is indicating 42 1/2" as I read it. LR Tanks are secure and wings deploy solidly so I don't see a problem with the 43 1/2" in that regard.

Anybody else got a measurement?

I know that I am no authority, but my advise to anyone cutting for the windshield is to actually put it on the plane, and do it in sections.  Mark, drill and cleco, mark some more, cut some, replace, cut some more etc etc.  This way you get it "custom" to your aircraft.  EXACTLY the dimensions needed.  It does not take that much time.  Just helps to have a second set of hands.  Just my humble opinion.
