Since I am running almost exclusively on auto gas, 91 octane (912uls), I went with the mobil full synthetic, mx-4t which I think they have renamed to racing 4T. It is a high performance motorcycle oil. It only comes in 10-40, which works for all temps encountered here. There is a mobil 1 v-twin oil that is also acceptable, and comes in a 20-50.
If you run av gas with lead, then stay away from full synthetics, I don't know why, but there is some incompatibility with lead and synthetic oil.
I do not know what the 914 takes.

| Apparently the synthetics don't absorb the lead from the avgas as well or something along those lines. For autogas the synthetic was great. Also the change times are about double if running non-lead/synthetic vs. avgas and non-synthetic. Save $ all around in my opinion. Just wish autofuel was more available at airports. Phil Lockwood said most of that at Oshkosh last year in his forum on 4-strokes. |
