Did not know what others have done, but when I flew to Clemson to have Troy look at the plane he suggested that I drill and put two bolts {one on each side}through the tubes of the stabilizer leading edge to fuselage connection. The manual did not say to do this. There is a lot of tension so don't believe they would come out, but.....I believe I will go back and do this.

Dennis,
Which bolts do you mean? I am putting a picture here of my Horizontal before covering. I have a bolt on each side on the leading edge, the one the transport strut hooks to when you fold the wings. Is that the one you are speaking of?

Does the "book" actually mention the transport strut fittings?

Dave, I took a look at your picture and you have the bolts already in place. My manual said to slip the tubes in place but no bolts were mentioned. So will go back and do this.

I noticed that the plug-in would move (pivot) up and down on the mounting bolt no matter how tight it was. My solution was to put in a rivet horizontally inboard of the vertical bolt that holds the horizontal half in place. On a covered a/c it is not visible. My mechanic said "good, but not good in shear" so I replaced the rivet with an AN3 bolt in the same place. Here is a picture - think you can just barely see the head of the rivet inboard of the left horizontal half mounting bolt. I can take more pix if needed.

I hate to defend the manual but...
On page 5-3, step 6, the manual says, "...When finally fitted the stabiliser halves are secured to the front and rear bushings; drill 3/16" holes into the stabiliser and through the bushing tube approximately 1/2" outboard of the join line. Use bolts F-1050 rear and F-1060 front."
The manual does not appear to mention the transport struts. Look for a separate post.
