Why not a Corvair?

The reason why I am asking about a Corvair is simply cost.  Rotax 912 engines are getting close to $24K now  , while A completely rebuild 100hp Corvair is under $2.5-6K (about $7k if you have one of the experts build it for you).  A Corvair in a highlander drops the completed build price from $55-60K down to under $40K.  The weight of a Corvair is equal to or a little less than a o-200.  My big question would be building an engine mount and cowling for it.  Have any of the builders/prosective builders thought about this?

Jon
