The wave of patriotism hitting the airlines lately would be heart-warming... if not for the fact that all that seems to be motivating them is a desire to avoid any more bad PR. Northwest Airlines has joined in the flag-waving with a recent announcement that it is waiving the fee for a third checked bag by military personnel traveling on Northwest Airlines and Northwest Airlink regional partners in its continued support of military efforts around the world.
