Ok, I've read the book (yikes!!) - how did the seasoned veterans accomplish this stuff?  Any tips and tricks?  I notice that my tank sticks up above the rib ~1/8 inch - ok, or do I have to work on it to get it at the same level?

thanks

Yes, you must sand the front and rear edges of the tank to get them down flush with the top contour of the ribs.  The front lip of the tank is thick and the rear edge has extra material to fit them down into the space.

Remember that the wing MUST be attached to the fuselage when the tank is glued in.  The #1 rib should be in place but not glued(must be on before the wing is mounted).  When the tank fits into the space nicely, remove it and glue the #1 rib in place.  Check that the tank will still slide in and out.  After the rib is cured in place, bed the tank with silicone for adhesive and viola.
