I had a thought, and tested it on some waste material - thought I would throw it out there for the knowledgable to thrash....
I took a chunk of excess butt rib standoff tee, taped it off with 3M green, and painted on some gell-type paint stripper. 30 min later I wiped off the excess and took a wire wheel to it with the die grinder. After removing the paint I wiped everything down with MEK. the tape gave a nice clean edge to the remaining powder coat.
I've already done most of the hard stuff by flapper wheel (lift strut attach brackets, etc.). I know this is too easy, and therefore wrong.....

Ok, I am very surprised this didn't get a response. I've never met such an opinionated bunch as aircraft builders!! Just ask them which engine/covering system/etc. is best....
I'd hate to think this is a good idea - it is just too easy.

I used permatex gasket remover to remove some powder coat. I gooogled "powder coat removal" and found this web site.

I just used a dremmel with a small sanding wheel. Some pieces took some time but got it done.

I tried the paint remover and it worked well for the first strut bracket. I then tried a 3M paint remover wheel that I had left over from a car restoration. It's a rubberised, honeycomb sort of wheel for a normal electric drill and they cost only a few dollars each. I did the remaining three brackets in less time than it took me to tape up and apply the stripper to the first one. Real easy and it doesn't touch the metal.
