Do we really have to spend that much for lights???
I have been toying with putting lights in the end of
the front spars. I asked Troy about it & he said it was
OK to do this.
I have aquired a set of 55 watt halogen driving lights,
& with a little relief on the spar ends & the glass wing tips,
I hope to be able make a clear flat wrap-around lens to
enclose them.
I going to slick my plane up as much as possible to
get the best cruise. That's why I want my lights inside.
Troy or Jamie had mentioned mounting lights on the
nose gear bronze bushings, but I think this would
cause vibrational issues.
I hope my description makes sense...

There were several reasons why I went with the new technology in HID. The HID is cooler, brighter, less wattage required for brightness, do not burn out {so bulb replacements like halogen}, less volts required, smaller with same candle power. If you want to actually use the lights you get for visibility to ground then you need to spend the money. If you are looking just to light up for taxi or just added front light for saftey then less money might be wiser.

Sounds good, why don't you post us some PIX of what you have with specs? Thanks. I have one super duper HID but am looking for a strong backup. |

We use these in our offroad vehicles all the time.. fully sealed, vibration resistant and waterproof. these are built to take a beating and still function perfectly at a fraction of the price of our competitors!
these are
35w - Xenon Gas High Intensity Discharge Bulbs - rated to last 3500 hours
Digital ballasts with ASIC chipset controllers which are used to give a steady and contant light output - no flickering
weight: 17oz each (standard ballast)
Input current : 3.4A peak - 8.5A
output 35w
Light lumen's : 3200 lumen's
comes with one year warranty.
Prices start at $199 a set.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask..

Hi Dave,
If you are talking about the mr16 HID in the pic above its 2" dia. 1.95 to be exact.
Also, there are HID bulbs made for just about any light bezel out there... If I dont have them in stock I can usually get them with in a week.. I just need a picture or or bulb type if known and I can tell you pretty quick if its gonna work or not.
thanks!
