Anyone wrapped their leading edge with aluminum? When I picked up my kit last week I saw the remains of the wing they built (and crashed shortly there after). Troy said they didn't have enough time to fully evaluate it but he said some people had built their kits that way and reported good results.

we used wood from spruce aicraft parts.. less chance of expantion caused by using different metals.  It turned out looking like a real airplane wing, not an ultra-light.  I can send pics if you like.  fabric is completed so you can't see the inside work.  We also expanded the fiberglass cowlings by extending them to the doors and relining the seams.  This has changed the profile of the airplane quite a bit.

Sounds cool, especially if it makes a positive aerodynamic difference for the weight and hassle.

In a similar realm, we're considering 3 to 5 degrees of negative flaps to see if it will increase cruise speed any, if it can be constructed easily that way. Should know this week.

I would also be interested in seeing the leading edge, &
hearing about the reflexed flaps for cruise!

Yes, Cornell Aeroworks is currently building wings with leading edge wrap, it really dresses up the wing and I can't believe it doesn't improve the air flow over it. I've attached a couple pics of Cornel finished wing and take a couple more of mine and post them on Friday.

Couple more pics of the leading edge wrap done by Cornell for my set of wings, they use .020 aluminum sheet and sand down the false ribs to fit the contour of leading edge wrap.

Why not do the whole surface, or both wing surfaces in the .020 Al? Weight?
Nice looking job at any rate!
