Several asked about my door latch that we made up and the heater that will be mounted under the instrument panel near my feet :lol:

I'm going with one or two of the small 12V units here most likely, then do an traditional exhaust box cabin heater this winter, if needed:

I assume that you must have the external alternator on the Rotax. I think the heater draws 15 amps. That should dim the landing lites. I would be concerned that the draw would exceed the capacity of the stator and fry it. If you have a radio or any other draw on the system.

Just make sure to double check the draw of the heater, and the available power on the plane.

We're putting a rheostat in the line to cut back power when not needed.

I don't know about the susuki but the 912 system only puts out a maximum output of approximately 18 amps without an external alternator and it recommends you limit your total electrical load, with all accessories, to less than 80 percent of that, or 14 amps.

This alternator is either 40 or 60 amps, which is nice to have. I'll remember the 80% of total load too, thanks.

I have already run the lines DIRECTLY from the battery. So will not drain from the rectifier. Got a hefty battery. :lol:

Decided against the heater due to the amp draw. :cry:
Will now have to look at an alternative.
Anyone have a strong recommendation that would fit on the Escapade,,,,,yes with the front wheel and the Toucan exhaust?

Dennis,

Why don't you go with a traditional exhaust heater like Dave U did? If you have the toucan exhaust he can tell you where he got his. Either way, they take no curent, heat up real nice acording to Dave and don't weigh much. Probably the cheapest over all as well. I have the Mark Sorenson exhaust and I'm looking for somthing to fit it as well. I'm just not sold on plumbing in the coolant based ones. Just one more thing to leak, elec load, etc.
