I don't know the status, but definitely get one if you can. I just installed mine last week and it is far superior to the factory supplied lexan.

I am hoping for one as well - but will be doing the glass very soon, so may not be ready in time.

Re: Highlander windshield upgrade
I want one just for a spare, as availability seems like it could be problematic in the future. The other option is make my own mold and oven, but so many irons in the fire...

Re: Highlander windshield upgrade
Hey guys. I still check the forums a couple times a week, so dont say anything too bad about me.
I didn't end up buying the mold from Steve, too many irons in the fire already.
I believe Kris Griewahn bought the mold, though I don't know the status of the operation, I know he was busy building a couple airplanes. He does check the forum periodically as AccentAir. Last time I talked to him, we never got around to windshields in our chat so I don't have any more status updates for you.

No worries. Not looking to point fingers. Just wanting a windshield is all. Hope everyone’s builds are going well.

Re: Highlander windshield upgrade
Hi Rik,
The window material supplied with the kit is Lexan. In my opinion, the biggest draw back to Lexan is that scratches can not be buffed out of it. On the plus side it is extremely difficult to crack or break Lexan.
The molded window is made with Plexiglas. With Plexiglas, scratches can be buffed out just like any certified aircraft. The Plexiglas is thicker but I'm not sure of the dimensions of either. On the downside, Plexiglas can crack if installed incorrectly or too much heat is generated when cutting it to your final dimensions.
I installed one of the molded windows in my Highlander in 2015. It fit like a glove and was easy to install.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Dan, my wife owns an acrylic fabrication company and they make automotive and marine windows so these would be an item they can certainly make.
Agree with your comments. Lexan is SOFT and that's why it scratches so easily.

Wow, we need to get your wife’s company to pick this up. I love my molded windscreen, but am scared to death of breaking it because I fear I will have to learn to make one myself. I have a feeling I would end up with a framed, flat plate multi-panel affair.
Now that I think of it, that would look kind of cool...
