#144 Flies!!!

Post by rgmullins »

Almost exactly one year after we started. The honors were done by Troy himself. He dropped in on his way back from Oshkosh.

Woo Hoo!

Rick,
Congratulations! A very pretty bird!

Thanks for the inspiration!

Wear it out & be careful while you're at it!

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

I hope #144 continues to be treating you well !

I am curious about your instruments and it would be great if you could enlighten me as to what you have going on. Is that a tablet PC on your panel? If so, can you tell me how you are using it?

Thanks much, Neighbor Pete

Yes, treating me well and I'm having a great time with it. (and right about now I'm REALLY glad I installed a heater...)

Yes, that's a Motion LS800 tablet computer on the dashboard running Anywhere map. It has some nice capabilites but it's a bit awkward to use when flying (you have to use the stylus, a finger won't work). When I first installed it, it would blue screen about 5 min into the flight. I replaced the disk drive and it would last maybe 10. I finally put a solid state drive in it and it seems to have fixed the problem. I can't say that I would recommend it to anyone though. What I have on my Christmas wish list is one of the new Garmin 696's (fat chance....)

Rick,
I just noticed your back windows. I have made
preperations to add some there, myself. Would
you add them to the next Just, if you were to
build another one?

Stay safe...

John

I find them handy when I'm taxing. So yeah, I'd put them in again. Plus (personal opinion) I think it improves the look of the plane
