Tailgragger,

You are one crazy guy!  I just watched your dead stick takeoff and I laughed the whole way through it.  My wife about had a heart attack.  I'm still laughing!  Hats off to you but I couldn't do it.  It looks as if you're pushing it then jump in for the ride before it gets away.

Check it out if you havn't seen it yet!

Super sweet! And here I was trying to decide between a Highlander and a sailplane....(not really... Highlander in my future very soon)

Steve, keep making those vids as we all obviously get a big kick out of them. Is that area SE Oregon near the Owyhee?

Another question answered

Post by KevinC »

Well, that answers another one of my questions about the flying characteristics of the Highlander that I've been meaning to ask:  How does it glide....?

Be careful out there!

Ha! Laughing my a$$ off!

You know they have been doing that for quite a while now. It's called HANG GLIDING! But you get a lot better performance if you get rid f the motor.

Keep posting the videos. I've got a long way before I'm THAT comfortable with the plane...

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

taildragfun.

I am very loosely affiliated with www.airlinepilotcentral.com and you are now semi famous! Here is the link http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/web_ ... 27321.html

I put up the vid because who wouldnt want to see it and it got added to the main page. I figured since it was on youtube you wouldnt mind it public. Let me know if you would like it taken down.

Post by Lynng »

Taildrg.

Please post best glide from our flight testing for all those pilots that would like a good hard number and how fat before you find the prop tries to turn??

Hey Lynn,
One day I was over High Valley at 10,000 (amazing I didn't get a nosebleed) and I shut off the engine and glided about 10 miles to Garden Valley and landed without the engine. Besides being a lot of fun, I tried different speeds etc to see what worked the best. On my plane it was 1 notch of flaps at 55 to 60 IAS. I lost about 600 feet for each mile traveled. I have shut down my engine while in flight many times but I never do it unless I'm close enough to a place to land should it not restart.
I haven't seen how fast I have to go to push start with my IVO. I should do that. When I had the Kiev on I was right at 130 before it started. It was a pretty steep dive.
