Keith,

What engine are you going with?

For a host of reasons I just had to go with a Rotec 2800. Someone has to put a radial on a highlander...dont they?

Alan,
What are you going to do about the weight & balance issues?

Also, how much do those cost? PM me if you want to.

Thanks!

John
There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

John

The R2800 is around $15500, plus engine mount, exhaust etc. Troy tells me it will work fine and C of G should be ok with the battery etc well back. There are problems with the 76" prop so I will have to get longer U/C legs or bigger tires, but they are heavier. All this will hopefully be offset by more power, 500lbs static thrust recorded in a Kitfox. The Kitfoxes with Rotecs are getting 1500 to 1800 fpm climb and cruise around 100 to 110 mph cruise. For my requirements I'm happy to forgo the loss of payload .
Expect losts of questions for help and advice when I get started!

Keith,
Sorry about that, I was obviously directing the
question at you.

What will your cruise burn rate be?
The Rotec does seems interesting. I'm keeping
my options open, until I have to make a decision.

Thanks again for the response.

Sweet!

I didn't want to do it, but I've been hoping somebody would!

Sorry for the late reply. Rotec reckon on 22liters per hour at 75% power. Their web site has the info.
