Fun at the Beach

It's just a little too early to get the floats on in Canada, so a friend with a Kitfox and I decided to play on the beach a little. The floats will likely be going back on in early May. By the way... that's the good ol' USA in the distant background. (Erie, PA)

Hello All,

Im new to the forum but not new to JA. A lot of you I know and some of you I don't! Im currently deployed as a military contractor so I figured no better time to hop on the forum. Short story is, I bought myself a Highlander kit for my 22nd birthday and was lucky enough to have the time off to complete it in 4 months. First flight was NOV 1 2016. In the pictures below you can see its not the "normal" Highlander. Myself and Billy came up with the idea to fit it with the SS tail wheel shock, also it is equipped with the Beringer landing gear (No bungee's for me 8) ). At 675lbs its defiantly a performer!!

I saw this at SnF. Nice airplane and trailer. How do you like the Beringer suspension?

I love it, Its almost impossible to have a bad landing. There is no bounce what so ever (just like the SS). Its expensive but well worth the money! You can really smack the plane down and you feel nothing.

Sweet ride, how in the world can you complete an airplane in 4 months  !!! Especially doing modifications to it too. Is it stock 912?

John,
Due to my current career, I'm overseas for 4 months at a time but when I come home I have the 4 months off. I worked on it almost 10 hours a day and most of the time 6 days a week (in Billy Payne's shop). I am also an A&P so I guess you can take that for what it is worth haha. Yes it is a stock 912uls.

I'm an A&P and am at 5.5 YEARS working on mine, but my trip to OAIX was a lot longer than 4 months, and then there were the two kids, a new job, upgrade at the new job, and silly family expectations.

I love my family, but sometimes I wish I was 22 and single again...

Dane,
Thats actually where I am now. But I guess it also helps when you live 5 minutes from Billy Payne, then again some would say thats kinda cheating haha.

Coltin,
I love the paint color.

Nice plane.

Welcome to the forum.

John
There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Wow, your Highlander looks like it sits higher and has a higher deck angle than the SS in the back ground. Very Cool!

That should be "wife", not "with"...
