Oil thermostat

Post by rmullins »

Has anyone here installed an oil thermostat? Sounds like people have good results with them. If so I would greatly appreciate a picture of the install. I ordered one from CPS and it came with no instructions.

thanks in advance

Rick,

Check out page #1 of "kit #121" for a pic and some advice.  Hope it helps a little.

I would highly recommend one.  Mine works great.  Make sure you put it on correctly.

Even during the warm months it would take 10 - 15 minutes to get up to temperature. Once the temps dropped into the 30's I was sitting for 20 - 25 minutes and even then on descents the oil temps would drop out of the recommended operating range. I definitely need either a thermostat or some way of controlling the airflow through the radiator.

Oil Thermostat

Post by Roger »

Rick:

Did you get all the information you needed to install the oil thermostat?
If not, I'll post my instructions that I got with mine that I bought from Lockwood Aviation in Florida,  if you need those directions, I'll be happy to type them in for you.

Yeah Roger, thanks.  I've got what I need, information wise anyway. I will be placing another order with Aircraft Spruce tomorrow. I would think by now I would have been on their Christmas card list....

This place is great. Thanks to all for all the help and information over the year, and everyone have a happy new year in '09!
