Trailer design

Post by juliant »

Hi
Am looking at designing up a basic simple trailer for my Escapade (with Highlander wing), and need to calculate the C of G with wings folded
Can anyone give me the weights on the mains and tail wheel with wings folded ? either Escapade or Highlander.
Thanks
Julian

I see nobody has the weights handy and mine is at the airport for now.  I can at least give you an idea that with my wings out (not folded) I am 311 on the mains and 77 on the tail.  I would venture to guess 250 on the mains and 200 on the tail when folded.  Total guess there.

Hi Julian,

I dont have the numbers you are looking for but I have a few pictures that could help.  I'm planning to start welding my own trailer based on the following pictures.  I will keep you posted.

By that time, I hope these pictures will help!

bye

I have always thought a small lawn
mower trailer (like they sell at Lowes)
with an extended tongue, would work
well & be affordable.

I worked for guy when I was in college
who sprayed crops with a Hiller G Model.
He had a trailer custom built to tow it
tail rotor forward. It pulled well...

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Hi John
Like the look of those trailer designs, light  simple and easy to build. I posted one earlier that I saw from the uk
It would be useful to get actual weights as I would like to design it to get 30 to 40 kg on the tow ball.
