Anyone using a 2200?
Just looking for feedback...
Thanks!
John
Thanks!

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.
I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Jabiru 2200 and trailer
Hi
Too early for feedback unfortuantely as I have only just finished the main construction and have covering to go !
But have flown behind a few 2200s and they are reasonably popular over here. I have forty hours on mine which I took off a previous project, and it performed flawlessly, my only trouble was getting it to run hot enough and ended up covering half the oil cooler.
cheers

Manged to get a boat trailer for a few dollars and convert for aircaft use

Julian,
Would you have considered another
engine, if you didn't already have the
2200?
What was the aircraft that you took it off of?
The trailer looks good!
Thanks!

Hi
The angle suporting the tail wheel is 14 " higher than the mains, but remember that mine is an escapade so is different to the highlander gear.
I had the 2200 on a teenie two that I built, went like the clappers!! Will probably end putting a VW on the Teenie.
If I hadn't already got a 2200 I probably would still have gone for one. Their is plenty of history of them here in NZ as they are only built over the ditch in Oz.
There were some issues with the early ones (not enough cooling fin area etc) but what they produce now with hydraulic tappets etc seem to be ok. There was one issue with flywheel bolts but this has been addressed , I think the problem was people using non Jabiru approved prop extensions and props (though personnaly I wouldn't use their props there are more efficient ones out their)
I suspect that the 912 would out perform the 2200 but I like to keep things simple.
Cheers
