4 into 1 Exhaust Question

Post by Johnny C! »

I was perusing the Just Photo Galleries
and realized a potential problem.

I'll bet the current 4 into 1 exhaust won't
work with my nose gear, will it?

I really like the way it sounds... very quiet...

Just to be clear, I want an exhaust like the
one on Sam Peachy's Highlander.

I can't remember what they call it at the
factory...

Please tell me it will work!

John
There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Sorry John that exhaust won't work with the nose gear. If your willing to work with us we can make one that will using the same muffler. I already have the kit just need a plane to model it off of.   Jak

Jak,

Excellant.

Hopefully we can work on that soon.

My Enigma came in last week.
It looks pretty straight forward to
install.

Should I get a KT transponder from Bill W.?
or somewhere else?

Whats the difference between the KT-76, 78, A, & C?

I want to buy a refurb.

Thanks!

John

That was my mistake as well.  I was sold the 4 into 1 for my Rotax 912uls.  Well, the funny little wheel up front got in the way.  Had to go with the 4 X 2 which split one on each side.  Actually sounds and has worked well for me.

Dennis,
Can you send some pics of
your exhaust? Where purchased, etc?

Troy said the Toucan was my best
option, but I still want to see what
else might be available
Thanks!

Hey Johnny,
I will look to see if I have any pics.  The system has worked well for me so far.  The only issue I have had with the Toucan is the placement so close to one of the engine mount bars.  If the engine did not kick so much on start up/shut down it would not be an issue.  I believe the real issue is the motor rubber lord mounts.  I believe they gave me the ones for the 912 instead of the 912uls.  They are the ones with the yellow stripes.  I am keeping an eye on the one side of the Toucan.

Dennis,
So you have the Toucan Exhaust?

I have a 912. Are the yellow lord mounts
OK for my application? Or should I order
something else?

Did you get the silencers? (I'm not sure
that's what they call them, $138 per pair?)

Thanks again!

John

Yes, I have the Toucan.  I did not order the "silencers".  It sounds pretty quiet to me as is.  The yellow strips on the mounts are for the 912.  I have the 912uls which I believe should have the blue strips.  So you are fine.  So far I am very satisfied with the Toucan.  The fit is good with enough extension so as not to blacken the bottom of the plane.  The spacing is just right between the lead wheel.  Easy to install.  Not sure about the actual HP compaired to the Rotax exhaust system.  I have always had the power I needed though for the type of flying I do.
