Hi All
Question about tail wheel/rudder springs
I have made a tail wheel jack to pull the aircraft, which works very well.
I am about to put on the springs between the tail wheel and rudder , and it occured to me that when the wings are folded there is very little movement in the rudder and since the wheel doesnt unlock till 25 degrees then I am going to have trouble turning the wheel without stretching the spring and doing some damage elsewhere . Does this make sense or have I missed the plot somewhere?
Yes I am new to a taildragger!
I am assuming I am going to have to disconnect the springs while manoevering the aircraft with the wings folded.
Cheers

breaking free
Julain,
The tailwheel will 'break free' and fully swivel, although with the extra weight of the wings on it (and when they are new) it will be a bit stiff.
Slightly different subject but on Steve's suggestion I went to a little softer spring and found it easier to steer on the ground.

spring tension
It actually is just snug - slight tension at neutral.
