Just curious; What would you pay?

Post by scubarider2 »

Ok, just curious.  What would you pay for a Highlander/Escapade built and ready to go?  I was just thinking if I were to buy a kit and motor {Rotax 912uls} and built the plane what do you think people would pay for it?  I know there are a lot of variables but say with the standard avionics, gear/wheels and interior.  I would have to go back and add up exactly what I have in mine but guessing $25,000 for everthing with kit and another $25,000 for engine and set-up then you have paint and avionics.  Then you have the 500-750 hours to build.  Whatcha think?   :?:

Realistically, you will have at least $60K in it to have a flying aircraft (if you build the kit yourself).

The LSA Kitfox is going for around $82K, with a very basic panel.

So Jak, if a person wanted a standard Highlander and you built it ready to fly....what would be the final ticket price if you don't mind me asking?

Dennis there are too many options in the kit for me to answer that with a defenit answer. My price for the building is 15,000 and thats at my shop. I cannot paint here so it has to be farmed out and thats extrta of course. I am not intending to take any business from the company but I am willing to help out on my time.  Jak

Just to verify, Jak, you are talking about 15,000 for labor, yes? Not including materials.

If not, you may have just given yourself a hobby for life

It is a steal, not sure I would do it for that much.  Of course it would take me twice as long to do everything that Jak does!  :o
