Just Empty Weights

Post by Brohawk »

Just lists the empty weights of the Escapade and Highlander as being identical (615 lbs). I was wondering how this can be, since the Highlander has longer wings, larger wheels/tires, etc.

The tires are bigger and filled with helium.

You may have something there, Dane.

Maybe the basic Escapade is a little lighter than 615 pounds.

Or maybe it's a discussion starter. They hope you'll call and point out the possibility of an error there, and you'll end up buying one. :P

How's your project coming along? Every time I see a picture I think you will be done "next week," but I know how that goes.

I am at a near standstill, at least for a couple more weeks. New job.

The good news is my deployment for next year was canxd. and now I will have more time to work on it (though no money!)

I went through a period where I didn't get much accomplished; seemed like every time I planned to work on it, there was something unrelated that needed to be done. I started going to the shop every chance I get, even if it's to straighten tools or sweep up. That moved it back up the priority list.

I zoomed through the basic fuselage stuff, since it was all so familiar. I've been slower in the wings, because they're a whole new area for me, but I'm making good progress, now.

I think I've finally figured out the configuration of our oversized header tanks, and I've devised a mounting system for them. I'll make mockups from cheap galvanized sheet metal to be sure I have the fit right, and then I'll commit to aluminum.

In January or February, I'll go up to Michigan to do the final assembly on our engine.

I'm just eatin' this elephant one bite at a time . . .
