I guess it's time for paper work. ***More Questions***

Post by Johnny C! »

I am finally nearing the completion
of Lima Charlie, and I have started
no paper work other that to reserve
my Number.

Can someone help me with that
list?

Thanks!

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

John,

My recollection was that it is pretty easy. If you have some thoughts in mind, you can go to the FAA website and see if they are already taken. I ended up using my area code and initials  at my wife's suggestion. Here's the new federation against aviation site: http://aircraft.faa.gov/e.gov/NN/reserve.aspx - seems it was upgraded since I did it!

this is the easiest part! git 'er done!

Call the EAA. They sell a paperwork kit that has all the forms you need. It will save you lots of time and hair pulling.

Here's the link: http://www.shopeaa.com/amateur-builtcer ... onkit.aspx

From the AB Certification Kit webpage:

EAA's Amateur-Built Aircraft Certification Kit includes everything you need to register and certificate a new experimental amateur-built aircraft in the United States. The 15-page, step-by-step Certification Guide walks you through the entire process-from getting an N-number to the aircraft inspection, and provides samples to help complete each required form.

The certification kit also includes all FAA forms, Experimental sticker (in black), dataplate, and a convenient placard decal sheet. Cost is $12.99 plus shipping for EAA members. The kit is also available for non-members for $19.99 plus shipping. To order, call EAA Membership Services at 1-800-JOIN-EAA (1-800-564-6322), or visit http://shop.eaa.org.

As a long time EAA member,
that seems like the best route.

Thanks!

I need to order antennas.

This one is pretty affordable, so will
it work Ok with my Garmin 327A?

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/a ... ponder.php

And is this Ok for my radio?

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/av534.php

Edited to add this one in the mix. Even more afordable.

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/a ... ntenna.php

(These last two have just appeared in AS in the last few weeks, because last
time I looked the cheapest I saw was about $125.)

I am looking for a blend of affordability, good function & reliabilty,
but above all, I want it work when I need it.

Thanks again for the input.

Whoops John! Sorry, I apparently don't read so good...

I went to the FSDO in Spokane and one of the guys gave me a package about an inch thick of guides and copies of the forms, plus I did the EAA stuff as well.

Wes in Florida is 'the man' when it comes to your other questions.

good luck,
