Another thing to consider with the cold molding Lexan (factory windshield) is it will crack. I saw a Ranz 7 the other day built by a very pedantic builder down here in NZ and it was cracked around the entire circumference. It's not a matter of if it will crack, but when.

Definitely recommend going with Steve's windshield.

I really like the windshield David Horton bought for his Highlander and cannot wait to fly the aircraft. I will give a full review after the flight test.

I may have another shipment of windshields going to Just AC within the month, If I get a 3 per box you can save a total of $70 on your shipping costs.
Windshield: $350 Clear, $360 Tinted
shipping: $90, Split three ways $30 each.
Box: $30, Split three ways $10 each

So, is Just offering your windshield as a "factory" option? Based on the number of people who have aparently ordered one (me included) they ought to.

Do you know how many you have sold so far?

I haven't installed mine yet, and due to a (ahem) military obligation will not until early next year, but I did get it and it certainly LOOKS great!

Just AC didn't want to get into the windshield business so they just order them as they need them. I've sold about 37 windshield today and had only one arrive broken and the was with UPS. I ship exclusively FedEx.

How much more difficult is it to retrofit, versus putting it in from the start?

Ken,
It really isn't much of a deal, just takes a little time, l but well worth it.
Here's a highlight of the steps involved in removing the original windshield:
1. remove the glare shield
2. remove the fiberglass wing root cuffs.
3. cut the windshield at the aft edge of the upper windshield bracket separating it from the sun roof and remove the rivets from from that bracket.
4. remove screws/rivets which attach windshield to boot cowl
5. remove the boot cowl
6. remove screws/rivets and cover from the windshields vertical attachment points
7. remove the windshield
7. now you're ready to start fitting the molded windshield, I've attached a copy of my installation guide.

Steve,

My SuperSTOL kit was supposed to ship June 1, but has been delayed (possibly first week of July). What's the best way to get one of your windshields? Have it shipped with the kit or shipped up (Alaska) separately?

Ken,
It will be probably be cheaper for you if I sent it to Just AC. They would put the windshield box in the aircraft crate, which would be well protected. Shipping to JA from Seattle is about $95 plus $30 for the box. Send me an email with your Alaska address and I can give you that cost also. My email is: stede52@comcast.net. I'm in the process of building 3 clear and 3 tinted windshields and they will be ready to ship next week.

If the question is does it fit the 912ULS boot cowl the answer is yes, it fit like a glove. Mine is the light tint and it looks great. The sunroof is the darker 2074 tint.
