Oh, the toxins aren't so bad, it's the sanding that gets me.

Re: Oratex
I received my Oratex "Estimate" today. It was a bit more than Ken's. It came to $8,261.40 without the Toyo digital iron. The price of the fabric itself increased 14%.

Re: Oratex
Do you have a link to the toyo iron they use?
I found Toko digital irons on a web search, used for applying wax to snowboards. They look good for aircraft covering because they have a very thick aluminum sole. I wonder if that is the same one?
The irons available today are terrible. I had two from aircraft spruce and one from sears, I gave up using any of the three I bought, the best had 50 degree temp swings the worst had 70 degree temp swings. All had paper thin sole plates. I ended up doing a lot of the shrinking with a model airplane iron because it was the only one that held a temp, but you had to go very slow.

Re: Oratex
The Toko iron recommended is used for waxing skis. Very high quality, made in Switzerland.

Re: Oratex
Swix also makes an nice iron, however, you need to make sure they get to 350 degrees, Model T73 is the one to get in the Swix brand.
