Fabric backing plates

Post by danerazz »

On the ailerons/flaps/pulley holes, you obviously need a frame to attach the fabric to, but around the strut attach fittings, I am not sure I see a need for the backing plates. Watching the Stewart Systems videos, specifically the wing covering, they have a very similar situation on the rear strut attach fitting as the Highlander, and they have no backing, just fabric reinforcement patches. Anybody omit these on the Highlander? I don't see it being a problem, but I would rather ask as I very well may be missing something.
