Bottom wing route closure on SS

Post by Familyflyer »

Does anyone have any pictures of what the factory did to close off the bottom wing route to fuse. There is an aluminum skin that needs to go across from rib to door header. It must have to be broke a bit to attach to the door header as the wing is below the header. It looks like it must rivet to the underside of the frame between the hinge. I do no have a good picture from Osh to know for sure. There is no materal supplied in the kit for this. I would go by the instruction but they are hard to read, I mean I do not have any! Lol.

Troy,

Here are some pics Steve Henry sent me, perhaps they will help you. I know it doesn't show how exactly he filled mounted it, but it does show how it turned out.

(Steve, hope its okay to share these.)

Best,

Ben

Last week Just sent out a brake shape aluminum to all the superstol builders. One edge is broke and the other is by the builder as the wing location to fuse is not consistent. The closure to the turtle deck is not part of the kit. Steve has designed that himself which s a really good idea. I will be doing something similar. The other item is the close out gap on the leading edge of the flap. I did not like the gap/ airflow stop the way it is. Steve has added this which I would bet cleans up the airplane a fair bit. Not that we are looking for speed, I call it efficiency. :) Steve can you comment if it helped? Did the stall speed change?
