Skis for Highlander

Post by Screech »

I have been trying to contact Airdale for any information on their skis by E-Mail and by phone with no result. Does anyone have any information about this Co. and how to get them to respond?

You might want to try Mike Custard at Summit Aircraft. He measured our Highlander for a couple of orders he had last year.

Mike from Summit Aircraft was a pleasure to work with. I sent him a gear leg (standard Highlander) so he could take the measurements and fabricate the brackets. My plane is not finished yet so I can't comment on the ski performance. The build quality looks to notch.

Those do look pretty nice. I wonder how the extreme gear install would be. I have not seen the regular gear close-up, but I wouldn't think the mounting would be much different.

Those skis look like a work of art. Our snow doesn't stay on the ground long enough to use them, but seeing those almost makes me wish I could. (My dad is right though, "whenever the temperature gets below your age, it's cold")

From what I can see in the photo, they are sharing the bolt and bracketry for the bottom of the bungee strut, looks like it would bolt right on to the extreme gear.

Nothing to do with skis, but I saw those brakes;

I just converted all of my brake lines and fittings from 1/4" to 1/8". I was plagued with leaks with the 1/4" system, mostly due to my over-tightening the fittings or improper alignment of the lines entering the fittings. The 1/8" system is much more forgiving and I haven't had any leak problems. I'll try to make a separate post on the subject soon.

You also get better braking power with the 1/8" lines then you do with the 1/4"
