Santa came early and Trot got a new toy

Post by jak »

Santa visited the factory yesterday and gave Troy his new toy. I have a video to post and I hope it works since I've never posted a video before but things you need to know about what your going to see is there was a pretty good quartering headwind blowing in the 10 to 15 range and this is real, just starting to learn this thing but after only 5 min these were the results. The toy was a Cato prop 82 X 38. Ok so I've been trying now for like 30 min to get the video to come up and I'm not computer literate enough to do it so its at Vimeo.com /82185278 if anybody can get it up great if not I will get some help cause you gotta see this to be a believer. The eng. is a standard 100 hp rotax. Troy is all smiles about this prop. Jak

Yes please more details. I am currently running the 72in 3-blade Warp on mine with the Rotax 912uls 100hp. Thoughts on switching out?

Unless I am mistaken, this is definitely a toy for the short take-off crowd only. With a pitch of only 38" this should yield a theoretical top cruise of around 85 mph. There's little doubt it takes off fast, but I think most of us are still hoping to cruise at 100 mph, so it's not likely the prop of choice for the Highlander/Escapade crowd. :(

I think Troy might have slipped in one of those new Billy Payne nitro systems to add to the "wow" factor!

No nitro just watching the wind sock and timing takeoff with most direct headwind. The smile is still on troys face says he does not want any other prop, this one has better takeoff and in this plane keeps the same 85 to 90 cruise speed the Kiev had. Jak

So many people were nervous about using the JA runway. It's good to know they could just use the parking lot instead! :)
