Rotax Fuel fittings

Post by Familyflyer »

I am trying to sort out all my fuel line runs for my 914 engine install. The rotax manual shows the fuel pumps to be all barbed fittings as well as the engine itself. I seem to remember seeing a company that sells a kit to replace all the rubber lines to fire sleeves and barbs to AN fittings on the engine. I can't find it now. Do you know if the pumps can be changed to AN fitting or if there is some kind of replacement pumps with AN fittings? What about on the engine, is the barb fittings removable to add an AN fitting? This rotax engine is all new to me, but any hose that needs to be replaced every five years should not be on an aircraft engine in my mind. So much to learn. :)

For replacing the Rotax hoses try contacting Steve Tschurwald at aircraftspecialty.com -- I've never dealt with him, but he posts fairly regularly on another site and at one time announced replacement hoses for the Rotax.

Hi Troy,
Steve is the guy at Aircraft Specialty, they have a kit for the RV12. I am going to work with him for the fuel lines needed on a standard Highlander running a 912. They do have all the replacement fittings.

Thanks guys. I will call him. I must have seen the link from VAF. Looks like I should get sorted with him.

Troy,

I saw a few months back that Tom Swearingen of TS Flightlines is making a FWF kit to replace all the Rotax hoses with braided SS and AN hardware. Not sure about the cost, but what is piece of mind worth? :)

If you are not familiar, TS Flightlines makes very nice hoses, akin to Bonaco's products.

Looks like Tom Swearengen of TS Flightlines and Steve Tschurwald of Aircraft Specialty worked together to develop the kit. It's $599.95. Here's the link: https://tsflightlines.com/new-releases.html

Hello Everyone. I just came across this thread and wanted to say hi to everyone and open this thread up to any questions that you may have about the Rotax 912 fuel retrofit kit.

Right now, the only full "kit" that we offer is for the RV-12, but we are working to add more aircraft to the line up. Every 912 installation is virtually the same with a few differences, and we are happy to work with any builder that wants to do one on their Highlander.

We replace ALL the rotax proprietary Banjo fittings with regular 37 degree flare fittings, and mate them with a conductive teflon hose with stainless steel ends. Unlike the rotax hoses, these have no "expiration" date. And, we offer a 10 year warranty on the hoses.

We include all the conversion fittings as well as the fittings to replace the rotax "fuel block" on top of the engine. If you go to http://www.aircraftspecialty.com/rv-12.html, you will see the 912 hose kit for the RV-12. The direct link to the installation manual is http://aircraftspecialty.com/PDF%20Docu ... 111013.pdf

We also have some videos on the web site that show how our hoses are fabricated and tested.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact Tom (TSFligtlines) or I and we will be happy to discuss it with you.

Have a great week,
Steve

P.S. The majority of our work is custom fabrication, so we can do any of the lines for your plane that you may need.
