Jim Pekola's new flat spring Tailwheel

Post by stede52 »

Jim Pekola is continuously looking at ways to improve design and function of his tailwheel and has an all new Tundra Lite flat spring lockable tailwheel coming soon, its a work of art! The upper bearing block, fork, hex cap cover and wheel spacers are all CNC cut out of 6061 T6 billet aluminum. The tailwheel features an internal locking mechanism and a tie down loop which is every tailwheel pilots dream when tying down his plane :D. The spring block is specifically milled to accommodate either a 1 ¼, a 1 ½ or a 1 ¾ inch wide flat springs. The 8” tailwheel assembly (shown in the pics below) comes out to a mere 5 pounds 15 ounces and the 10” tailwheel only adds one more pound to the finished weight.

Jim's price for the lockable tailwheel assembly will be $1195.00, which includes the cable and the cockpit actuating lever assembly, the non-locking version is priced at $995.00.

By the way the actuating lever is ingenious and works flawlessly, make sure you ask Jim how it works in various conditions when you talk to him.

Please contact Jim for orders or questions at: jimpekola@hotmail.com or call him at (360) 532-9696
