Kiev prop & cowling

Post by JHR »

How far back should the cowls be from the from of the 1.2" spacer front?

I have the prop but not the spinner yet and a would like to go ahead and fit the cowlings.

A picture or pictures would be appreciated.

John,

I'm surprised no one has answered you. I too was unsure of where/how to mount my cowlings. What I did was actually mount the engine on its mount. That is a fixed point. The front of the engine (prop flange) is set and you then know where to place the cowl relative to up and down and well as front to back. Combined with the boot cowl, this gives you your location for trimming your windscreen.

If using a spacer, again, mount the cowls with all the parts in position. I'm not sure of any way to do it otherwise. If you have your prop, even better. Much safer than measuring.
