Ken,
Sorry about the delay in responding, must have missed this one. The Clamar floats seem to do fine at the heavier weight. The heaviest I've been on take off is around 1500. With a 6-10 knot wind it gets off the water in about 16 seconds or so. Noticeable longer than when I'm by myself. I also need to say I'm somewhat of a newbie float pilot. With better technique I'm sure it can get off more quickly.

Hey Gary,
What sort of distances do you see on wheels? Is there a noticeable difference between asphalt and grass?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,
I'm not sure what your question is. If you mean take off distance it approximately 20% more than when I'm on wheels.

Gary, sorry I wasn't clear. Yes, I am interested in take off and landing distances on amphib wheels compared to regular gear. Also interested in how much longer grass is compared to pavement.

Ken,
The difference is like flying solo vs having a 190 lbs passenger. The CG doesn't really change much when on floats.
