Flap and Aileron Bellcrank Joggle

Postby BucF16 » Tue Feb 14, 2017 2:55 pm

I was just about to install the aileron and flap pulleys when I realized that some of you joggled the bellcranks. I have not installed them on the Left wing set but the bellcranks are already placed on the right wing. SO some questions from those of you that have gone before. Who has joggled? Did the powder coat wrinkle or crack after the bend? how did you accomplish the task?

It seams most didn't.
Were there issues with the cable contacting the web of the rib?

AND the big Question:
Who wants to sell me a set of their cable/ wing attach FAIRINGS!! :D

Thanks in advance!

Hi Bruce,
I must confess.... I'm a joggler!
I just used several layers of masking tape to protect the finish and widen out the bend radius, then used pump pliers to carefully make the bends. It definitely keeps things aligned better and there have been no issues after 3 years and 285 hours on the Highlander. If I remember correctly, it's only the top aileron crank that needs to be done because of its proximity to the trailing edge of the wing.
Regards,
Dan

I made my own fairings for most places. The leading edge fairing that ties the wing area to the windshield was not very good so I had to cut and rework them. Also needed cable fairing for the aileron cable, rudder cables, Ray Allen servo, et... If you have done any fiberglass work it's not really that hard, just takes more time like everything else!!

Thanks Gents! I'll be a Joggler too.
As for the fairings, Yes, it is a time issue. I'm still pretty busy between the Airline, Farm, and my 14 year old son (scouting...ect). When I ordered our kit from Just, I requested, "EVERYTHING possible for a quick build".
So I'll have my Father-in-Law build them up.

Cheers,
Bruce
