Dane, What did you use for your labeling? I have a Brother P-Touch that I was going to use white lettering over clear, But your's looks wider than mine.
Thanks,
Bruce

It is a brother PT-P700 PC connected label maker, about $70 on Amazon. They have white on black .94” wide, and the label maker will spread the text out to cover double widths. That is how I did the switch labels. I designed it as one almost 2” wide label and it printed on two strips. You can see I slightly misaligned where the “t” in start is, the horizontal and vertical lines have a slight break. This is where the split in the labels is.

Overall I think they came out great, and the software has rulers so I was able to space everything exactly to my switch spacing. Plus the label maker will print clip art, pictures (b&w printing obviously) any font, lines, pretty much anything you could design in something in Word, you can design in the label software.

It might not look as good as the dry transfer system, but it is cheaper than buying a laser printer and easier to use, and easy to correct errors. If you need to replace or change a label in the future you can save the file on your computer and reprint or edit it.

https://www.amazon.com/Brother-P-Touch-Connectable-Label-PT-P700/dp/B00DSYEB28/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522420314&sr=8-3&keywords=brother+ptp700

It also has a built-in template for handy wire label “flags”. Overall a really nice label printer. Only complaint is a bit of a learning curve on the software.

If you go his route, use the downloaded (free) software off the brother site, the software that auto-loads when you plug in the printer has limited function.

Thanks Dane. Your panel looks great! I'll try to emulate the same.

Cheers,

I used this company for the vinyl N numbers and EXPERIMENTAL placard on my plane and was very satisfied with product and service.

I'm going to order some smaller placards for my panel and see how it comes out. The web site design tool indicates it will accept letters down to 1/4 inch high. I'm thinking 3/8 or 1/2 inch would be the best for marking the panel. The nice thing about the vinyl transfer is no background tape. It would be a little more expensive but if you have to buy a $70 label maker it might be cheaper. I bought a DYMO label maker that prints on heat shrink so I could mark all my electric cables. I used the white on black labels for my panel. It looks pretty good but it would look better without the background tape.

I agree, but I used 10 and 8 pt. lettering. And if I need to make changes.... and I get them right away, don’t have to wait.

BDA, Very nice! Thanks for sharing. I plan to create a similar panel where you can see the bones in the back. I'm still vacillating between the iLevel 3 AW or a GRT Sport EX.

I'm looking at MGL too. I really like how they connect engine leads to the firewall through a block on either side; as opposed to having all leads running through a conduit.
