Beringer Wheel / 29" Tire Mounting?

Post by Clark in AZ »

For those that have the Beringer Wheels, how did you mount your 29" Airstreaks? Any tips, tricks or things to watch out for?

Just thought I'd ask before plunging into figuring it out myself.

Thanks,
Clark

Just thought I would post that it was no big deal. I used "Bull Snot" tire lube and each half of the rim slid right in place. I used some silicone grease for the o-ring that goes between the halves. I had to purchase four extra socket head cap screws of a longer length than the OEM to pull the rim halves together enough so the OEM bolts would reach. Once I got the halves close enough, I put the OEM bolts in. I used Loctite 243 on the OEM bolts and tightened them in the recommended sequence. I then torqued the bolts per the manual. Done.

Today, I aired up the tires, all is good.

Thanks,
Clark

Those wheels look really nice!

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Thanks John!

GROUP FYI:

I emailed Beringer about the air valve on the rim, whether or not I should remove it and/or replace it with a plug since I fill the tires using the built in valve in the tire? I was told NOT to remove it as the rim is thinner in that part to compensate for the weight of the valve and if you remove it, the rim will no longer be balanced. That is what I was told...

So, just in case anyone ever had the same question, now you know. ;)
