Does anyone own a Superstol XL or Kitfox in or near Dallas?

Post by Pierrepechon »

Dear fellow pilots,
I am an ex-aero engineer turned orthopaedic surgeon, and I'm keen to build / buy a taildragger bush plane.

I currently live in New Zealand, and I'm coming to Dallas from 1st to 4th November, for a surgery conference - whilst I am there I am keen if possible to visit a few bush plane owners, to see a few bush planes - to see if I can fit in them (I am 6 feet 4 tall, 1m93cm), and to find out a bit more about what they are like to build and fly, and get hints and tips.

if you, or anyone you know has anything like a Superstol Xl, or a Kitfox, or a Carbon Cub near Dallas, and might have a bit of time to talk to meet me and talk to me about it, do please send me an email or a message through this forum

Many thanks - Pierre

Hi Pierre,
No worries about fitting. I own a Highlander and I'm 6'4" and I fit fine.

Piere, I responded on a Private Message.
I had a one man 6 foot 10 inches sit in my plane. He could fit but he was ALL legs, and would have had problems flying it.
I do not think you would have any problems even at 6 foot 4 inches.

I'm 6'1" and fit fine. My father is 6'4" and fit fine as well, though, I moved the seat a notch back for him compared to me.

Hi All,
I'm way late to this thread but thought I'd say hello! I have a similar enquiry, I'm 6'4" and have sat in a UK based Eurofox. Sat on the stock seat cushion the roof is literally 1" above me so no good for headset use. I pulled the seat and measured from the lowest part of the seat to the inside of the poly'c roof, just in front of the rear metal structure overhead (usually a sheet metal attachment point for the turtle decks) - measuring 39.5". If any Highlander, S-Stol or Kitfox owners out there have the time, please could they do the same - I'm UK based so finding these aircraft types locally is almost impossible, worse still now we're in another lockdown! Thanks in advance...
