Wing Rotator - with engine stands

Post by BDA »

I havent seen a thread on wing rotator other that a few mentions of what they have, so here is what I did.
2” square tube with 1.5” pipe stubs for the spars.
I would use 1” pipe next time, 1.5” fits inside the rivets, barely if you grind a side flat.

Engine stands work pretty good but the top is not level, so you have to block up the back to make it level but then u cant roll them.
It is just the right height - for me

Lets see everyones pictures of what you used and pros and cons.

Hi Shawn, Here are mine. I used a Harbor Freight engine stand. To get the adjustable height, I cut it in half and welded in some metal stock. Then welded a 5/16 nut to put a jam bolt thru. Don't use the 3 wheel stand. the vertical is tilted. So I added larger wheels to correct the problem. The 4 wheel stand is straight like yours. Ben Schneider used schedule 40 pipe. So I copied his wing attach for the other end. I tied the two ends with 16' for 2X4s. That way the wing can't fall out. I hope.
