beefy piston servo arm to retract 22" wheels

Post by Dave Krall CFII SEL SES »

Been serching google, etc. with no luck. Need strong electric servo with 8-12" travel that can hold two 22" main gear on 2' legs during rough surface landings, under 1400# plane. Any sources?

Dave!

Are you trying to convert a Just to a retractable
amphib?  Or just retracts?

I'll give you a 9.5 for originality...

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Wheels are on the outside of Full Lotus floats, on legs that need to be rotated up & down about 90*...

Ok!  Good Stuff!

I was joking, so I hope I don't detract
too much from your thread...

Well I finally made some real progress when I started calling the mechanism by its right name, "linear actuator"! There's some 8 to 18# units out there by TracMaster that look like the ticket for $300 to $400, that can move 250-500#.

Dave,

Have you checked with Troy?  He had a set of Full Lotus floats that he was going to mount up.  Maybe he had a plan for the wheels?  Just thought I'd pass that on.

Yeah we've talked with both him & Full Lotus, but neither is doing much in the amphib area and even when they may, plans are for much smaller wheels that are of little use for my type operations.

I know... that's just for dragging it around the shop, and we even took that off now.
The nose gear will be RG, ATV wheel on linear actuator.
