Great Photo's Guys!

Keep 'em coming!

I just ordered an Enigma...

Getting closer.

Thanks!

John
There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Memorial Day Week

Post by stede52 »

Just a couple of pics from my trip to Eastern Wa. to see Kevin Corlis and Gary Weaver.  Absoluletly beautiful days for flying. I stopped at the Zilah Wa. radio control air field on Wednesday to see some of my R/C friends. In the Zilah picture you'll see Gary on the left, I'm on the right and in the center is Dick Ovrid who helped both Gary and I get thru some tough spots in the contruction of our Highlanders, he's an incredible source of aircraft knowledge.  Gary Weaver flew in on Thursday and then we both flew to Prosser Wa to do some flying with Kevin Corlis.  Kevin also makes some incredible red wines so that was even more incentive to visit him.  Gary and I then proceed to his home town of Othello Wa. were he also has a beautiful 900' strip where he puts on some great radio control airplanes events.  We both fly R/C airplanes also :) I just hung out and enjoyed the weather and the great company for a couple of days and then flew back over the Cascade range on Sunday.  Just doesn't get any better then that. :P

"Beautiful weather", rain, thunderstorms and wind - we had it all.  A fun time had and lots of attention for the Highlanders.

I posted a Highlander slide show on YouTube:

Some of the photos are from my camera, but most are not.  If any are yours & you want them removed, please let me know.  Otherwise, enjoy!

Flight testing cameras and mounts for the trip to Idaho for Steve Collins and my airplanes. This is the ContourHD helmet cam mounted and today I plan to get my Sony HD out. Wish me luck.

Back country flying

Post by taildrgfun »

This weekend I flew a friend of mine up to Shepp Ranch on the Salmon River on Saturday. The Polly Bemis Ranch is just across the river and his family and friends were there for the weekend so we went and surprised them. We all rode a jet boat up to Mackey Bar and back and that was a good time too. We left to come home in the heat of the day but the Highlander did fine. We had to climb to 9000ft to get over the mtns. At one point We caught such a good thermal that I decided to try to circle in it for more easy altitude. As soon as I turned we hit a REALLY big downdraft. I was too busy flying the plane to look at my VSI but I'll bet we were dropping towards the trees at least 1000 FPM! We were several hundred feet above them and so we were ok but it was pretty creepy dropping that fast and having to point the nose down and try to get turned back out of it. We did hit the thermal again and up we went again but needless to say I just kept going straight this time.
Sunday a few of us flew to Idaho City for breakfast and when we got back and I was doing my log book I noticed my hour meter was 1111.1.
