Can anyone tell me if it would be possible to fit 2 mountain bikes in the cargo area? wheels off?

Thanks,

Thanks a bunch!

Do you mean regular mountain bikes and do you have to remove the wheels?

Thanks

And 1 more ?!
Maybe someone can help me out with this ?!
Full fuel 26gallons x 6.5lbs per =176 lbs
empty weight of Highlander is ?????=700 lbs
2 180lbs occupants =360 lbs
Total =1286 lbs
This only leaves useful load of =84 lbs
I assume my calculations are flawed, or am I missing something? Is everyone that goes camping flying solo?

Also I plan to operate on floats which, as I understand gives a gross weight of 1430lbs but most amphibs specs I looked at are pushing 200lbs!How much weight do you lose with taking all the conventional landing gear off?

I have decided on purchasing either the Kitfox or the Highlander and as I was planning on ordering a week ago, I am still confused on these calculations! I like that the Kitfox has a higher top speed and that it can be registered in a higher gross with upgraded landing gear. This leads me to believe that the Kitfox is built stronger than need be for LSA! I like the storage area in the Highlander as it looks as though you could sleep in it if need be, and stall speed is a bit slower! I plan on going down to Idaho in the next week or 2 so I can see these planes and hopefully get a test flight!

Thank You,
Bandit

First, fuel is closer to 6lbs/gal, so 156 lbs. Also, your math is off, 1286 + 84 is 1370, lsa gross is 1320. I am coming up with 156lbs fuel, 700 lbs empty seems to be close based on this forum if you are careful, and your 360 lbs pax comes out to 1216. That is 104 lbs cargo.

I did make a mistake on the math 26x 6.5 is 169 lbs not 176! I also am from Canada and our gallons are 4.5 litres as opposed to the US gallon at 3.8. But you bring up a very good point as the plane is obviously built in the US, so I assume that it would be 26 US gallon fuel capacity! And when I determined the 6.5lbs per gallon, it was an approximate for argument sake, and if you are correct on the 6lbs per US gallon then ours would be over 7!

If I remember correctly, there was a commercial airliner that ran out of fuel in mid flight due to the lbs to kgs conversion on fuel years ago!

Thanks for the comment,
Brent

Well, its a rather oddly-shaped area. I'll leave the calculations up to you, but given an inch here and there:

Front to back =45"
Forward (Behind seats) width = 35"
Most rear width = 23"
Height behind seats = 35"
Height most rearward = 25"

Awesome info - thanks!

That will help the wife & I determine if there's room for the dog (boxer!) and other stuff.
