Kolb brake cable "LOOPS" / "a fix"

Postby planecrazzzy » Sat Apr 29, 2006 12:42 pm

Hey Guys,
I have these Bicycle shop "cable guides" on my Carbs & Choke.....I have now put them
on my Brake cables.....

I made some Streamline Lift Strut Sleeves....and the brake cables coming out of the cage
were in the way.....I already had the Cable Guides because I planned on doing this anyway...
But now I had to .....

It lets the cables follow the landing gear legs, and gets rid of that "BIG HONKIN LOOP"

 See Pictures below...

This is a close-up of the cable guide. You can buy them at a local Bicycle shop for around $3.00 ea.

This picture also shows the "old" hole where the cable used to come out....My foot caught the loop once and RIPPED the fabric...

Here's a few pictures with the same type of Bicycle cable guides...

They REALLY clean up the appearance, and get rid of the "Big Honkin Loops"

I got the idea from Richard ( old poop) on the Kolb list....

You can see the Choke cable guides are a "tighter" 90....it was all they had, The throttles need the bigger radius for SMOOTH control

another thing I did was I made a different oil injection arm....This one pulls "down" so the LOOP on top is eliminated

Here's the rest...

I'll have to wait and see how this will hold up after Taxi & landings....

Someday I'll put streamline sleeves on the gear legs...

Aluminum Duct Tape

Postby planecrazzzy » Tue May 30, 2006 8:32 pm

Just a Quick update..... The Aluminum Duct Tape "isn't" holding up....
As I land and Taxi , the gear flex's too much and the tape has been getting ugly "krinkles"
in it..... I'll be taking it off....I'll use nylon zip ties to hold it to the gear for now....

I'll have to put some streamline "sleeves" on the landing gear if I want to clean it up...
