setting the elevator

Post by KevinC »

Ok - this is a DUMB question and I apologize in advance - perhaps I am going blonde.

The manual [!!] says to level the headrack side to side and front to back and then set the elevator to 0 deg relative to the headrack (for Rotax).  I have one of those super-whamadyne Smart level tools that measures the angle to 0.1 degree and don't really want to take the a/c off the 'rotisserie' that I have it mounted on to shim it up to level front to back.  Is there any reason I can't just measure the angle of the headrack and duplicate it with the elevator (hence 0 degrees)?  Am I missing something?  It's an important hole to drill....

Kevin,
I dont see why that wouldn't work.  The horizontal stabilizer just has to be at the same angle as the headrack tubes.

If it does not work, I guess you will know next time.
