Just Aircraft Ships Kit #500
EAA's eHotline for May 15th includes the Just Aircraft news release announcing shipment of its 500th kit: http://spirit.eaa.org/news/2014/release ... it-500.pdf.
It includes this line: "Buildable as a taildragger or tricycle gear aircraft, the SuperSTOL can be fitted with regular or tundra tires, floats or skis..."
Wow -- a nosewheel on a SuperSTOL?

Re: Just Aircraft Ships Kit #500
I read that too Dick, and noticed a few other inaccuracies in the press release. I don't know who wrote it, but it certainly wasn't exactly accurate. The builder that bought that kit lives near me, he and his grandson are building it together. His grandson has been over to help me on mine almost every week since they decided to look into a SuperSTOL. They are not due to receive their kit until August. So they have not "Shipped" that many kits yet, but perhaps have "Sold" 500 kits. I know the Coonans put down their deposit just recently on their SS.
Based on that inaccuracy, I assumed the nosewheel on a SS bit was not correct either.
Remember, you can trust almost exactly 10% of what you read in the news. Far less than that if it is on the internet!

Wow ... could we see some pics, and get some information on it? Is there a SuperSTOL on floats in the future, too?jak wrote:We are currently in the process of building our second nose wheel superstol it is a reality Jak

Re: Just Aircraft Ships Kit #500
Agreed - nothin' wrong with a nose wheel. I was just amazed that a nose wheel would withstand the impact of one of Troy's high-descent-rate landings. I know they do those arrivals -- those controlled crashes -- on aircraft carriers, with nose wheels, but the military isn't trying to keep those planes light enough to do well with 100 hp.scubarider2 wrote:Nothing wrong with a nose wheel

I'm impressed that they can make it work on the SuperSTOL. I'd like to see pictures and get the details...

Dennis,
Nice picture of your plane, looks like it was taken at Jekyll Island.

The nose wheel on the suoerstol wont do those carrier landings you have to land it more conventional but there are those of us who prefer our small wheel up front. Jak

Gary, good eye! Yep, spent the week at Jekyll. Notice the bags
Jak, I am one of those that likes that little wheel up front.
I would be afraid to let Troy fly my bird...he may think he could land it like a helicopter

Grove gear and a nosewheel on a SuperSTOL ... very interesting. And good looking, too.jak wrote:Here is a picture of the first nose wheel Super Stol. Jak

Are those the 21" Matco mini Bush tires on 8" rims? What propeller is that?
