N325AB first flight
First flight of my standard Highlander was Friday July 4th. The good news is there were no surprises and the first landing wasn't too bad for a rookie tailwheel pilot on hard surface. Vic and Billy did a good job preparing me when I was down at their place the end of last month.
My kit is #249 delivered in November 2011. Seems all 3 planes I've built have taken 2.5 years or so. I've put 4.2 hours on her and 7 landings so far, another 200 landings I'll start to feel more comfortable! Thanks to everyone on the forum that answered many of my questions during the build. A really big thanks to Jak as he was always just a phone call away when I needed expert advice. Steve's windshield is a really nice addition along with his pulley covers and butt rib composite pieces. I did put on the Rage Gear shock struts and so far am very satisfied. The trainer I used at Vic's place had the traditional bungee cords, I never really experienced a huge bounce but the Rage gear really smooths things out.
I haven't had time to take many pics but will post some others in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again for everyones help.

Re: N325AB first flight
I got a chance to see his plane just before he finished it and all I can say is I'm glad he wasn't my competition at Oshkosh. When you can see his workmanship the plane looks even better. It's probably the best quality build I've seen yet on a Highlander. Nice job Gary. congratulations on the first flight!

Gary, I would love to see a video taken from the ground of your landing gear in action. Can you get someone to take some video as you land from along side the runway to get a good shot of the Rage Gear absorbing the landing? BTW, very nice looking build. Where are you located in Michigan? I am in Lorain, OH. Joe B

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.
I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.
