SuperStol Test Phase Complete

Post by Familyflyer »

Here is a video of my first Passenger Flight, my wife :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T4MvVNJvLY

I have around 30hrs in the plane now. Our test phase in Canada is 25hrs. I do not plan to change the Prop. The 41 pitch on the Catto works very well when loaded up. I would not want less take off distance and that is the most important item to me. I have learned to just really pull the nose up and that keeps the RPM under control. If I want to go somewhere I will take the Rv10. It will get you out of some tight places or climb you over high terrain in a very short horizontal distance. The elevator is perfectly level in cruise with a load so I think they got the stab angle right. You also use less and less aft stick on the approach with more aft weight, as it should be, but the pitch sensitivity does not change much so that is nice. Slats also pop out sooner as you load it up. Closer to 50 with a load and 45 light. It's a stick and rudder plane, plain and simple. If you got any kind of bumps you just keep on working the stick and peddles.

Great Video Troy!

Looks like you are having fun with the airplane. Im excited to get flying too.
Remember, you bought this airplane to poke around in, you are spoiled with speed with the RV. But now you have the best of both worlds.

Tell Jodie I said Hi.

Troy,
Glad to see you guys are having fun. My wife loves the view straight down also. We've had low wings for a long time so she never gets that perspective.

I just watched your Yellowstone post over on VAF, quite a change in geography and temperature.

Have fun
Gary
