New Video

Post by User GDS »

My sister works for Garmin and she just sent me a VIRB, so I have two camera capability now. Also got some new editing software, here's a short video of some desert flying:

Gary, where are you performing the flying in your desert videos? Is this West of the Twenty Nine Palms military ranges?

Thanks,
Bruce

Guys, I edited in some music, here's the same video with soundtrack. If you don't mind wasting some more time watching airplane-porn, let me know what you think. (I usually don't like a music soundtrack in flying videos, tried it blend in)

Bruce, welcome to the forum, you've got a Highlander?

I'm not sure, but I found a bunch of these out there:

Thanks for the welcome! I brought my quick build Highlander kit home from the factory in November, and can't weight to finish it. Spent the last 30 years building and flying Acro mounts, time to SLOW down and enjoy the scenery. I've been watching your vids since you started posting them. Their great and inspirational to those of us still in the build process.

I've flown most of the Southwestern military ranges and was trying to figure where your footage was from. Then I saw your home airport, and figured it was near 29 Palms. Keep posting I'll live vicariously through you.

Cheers,
Bruce

I found this out in the desert yesterday, Bruce or Danerazz, do you know what it is?

There were a handful of similar pieces strewn around a 300 yard circle. Looks like a some kind of cylindrical object that struck the ground with great force...

That is pretty mangled, but just based on the basic shape/construction I would say practice bomb, though the seams don't look correct for something like that.

Might be part of a shell of a CBU (cluster bob Unit) inside of the shell there are 400+ bomblets. I dropped a lot of them just east of where you fly.

I went back to the same area this morning and found some of these things, are they the bomblets?

I think I'll avoid that area, might be some unexploded units.

Hey, can I have the !$. Sorry for the late reply. I was out of the Country. So, this does not look like a "bomb-let" or any other "munition", or submunition. This is an inert "something", so don't worry about landing on it. Google "Rockeye, CBU-57,87,97.
If you see any of these "Bomblets" Get away!!!

Cheers,
Bruce
