Covering Flaps and Ailerons

Post by Tralika »

I'm about to cover my flaps and ailerons. Not sure if I should cover the ends first, then the surface or the other way around. What's the conciseness?

It's been a while for me, but I
I think you should cover the
ends first, and put the edges
of the cloth for the main surfaces
on the corners. It will give you
a cleaner look when done.

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

These are pics from the factory, I did mine basically the same way. One piece of fabric covers everything.

Thanks for the replies. I covered the ends first and it worked out OK. I would not have thought of covering everything with one piece of fabric. When I was trimming the ends I held the fabric up and see how they did it in the factory photos. I'm going to try that technique with the ailerons.

After the ailerons I'm all out of parts to cover, WHAHOO!!! Now it's on to reinforcement doilies, fabric rivets and tapes.
