Aircraft wiring diagram for use with a Rotax 912ULS
Hi Again....I'm using TurboCad2015 (Free for 1 month then $100) to make a Highlander electrical schematic. Originally I was going to Bob Nuckolls Figure Z-16 (from The AeroElectric Connection (a great book)) as a starting point but Turbo-Cad doesn't import pdf's and trying to convert the file to a .tcw (turbo-cad) drawing or an Auto-cad file (.DWG OR .DXF)that TurbO-cad can import, cost big bucks. So... does anyone have a schematic in .dwg, .dxf ot .tcw format that I can use for a beginning foundation?...Thanks! }:>)

Ben Thanks-A-Bunch, the Z-16 an Z-17 .dwg files worked perfectly.
I also want to post your note on the 912 ignition grounding
" The only issue I know if with this revision, is the drawing shows the ignition switches grounded to the shield on the ignition wire. This should not be done, according to Rotax (even though they show it that way in the 912 manual) and Just Aircraft. It could create an alternate ground source for the engine, and would do much damage should that occur.
Run shielded wire from the switch, and ground ONLY the end at the ignition module on the engine. Don't ground the end at the switches. "

Re: Aircraft wiring diagram for use with a Rotax 912ULS
Please do not use the Z-16 schematic. According to Rotax, disconnecting the C terminal from the B terminal of the regulator while the engine is running (ie ..turning the combined Battery /Alternator switch to off as shown in Figure Z-16) can seriously damage the regulator and create an overvoltage condition. So far one of the best diagrams I've found yet is at:

Re: Aircraft wiring diagram for use with a Rotax 912ULS
I suspect you're looking at an earlier version of the Z-16 drawing. The current version is Version M (dated 09/07), and it appears to have eliminated that concern.jjacky wrote:Please do not use the Z-16 schematic. In Revision M, the Alternator OverVoltage Disconnect Relay is wired so that Terminals B and C on the Rotax voltage regulator are never disconnected.
Here's a link to the Z-16 Version M drawing on the AeroElectric Connection website: http://www.aeroelectric.com/PPS/Adobe_A ... s/Z16M.pdf.

Buy the AeroElectric CD for $15 at the B&C Specialty Products site (http://www.bandc.biz/aircraft-electrical-books.aspx).orenjr wrote:Where can I find the notes for the Z16 schematic page ?
While you're waiting for it to arrive, check the online version here: http://www.aeroelectric.com/Book/AEC_R12A.pdf. The notes start on page 7 of Appendix Z.
